Allen DeHart

Allen Wayne DeHart, born on July 1, 1947, in Oakland, California, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, in Spokane, Washington.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, Allen is survived by his loving spouse, Linda Gulliksen DeHart ('65); children, Erik DeHart, Mike DeHart, Kris DeHart, Laura Cosens and Natasha DeHart; grandchildren: Tony, Katie, Kim, Dylan, Jordan, Gregory, and Trista; great grandchildren, Scott and Seth; and his sister, Patty Thompson ('73).

He is preceded in death by his two daughters, Michelle and Lisa; his parents, Lloyd and Betty DeHart; and his sister, Cindy DeHart Adkins ('67).

Allen graduated with the Class of 1966 from Richland's Columbia High School.

Allen proudly served in the U.S. Army, showcasing his dedication to his country. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in August 1966, and completed his basic training at Ft. Lewis, WA. In November 1966, he was sent to the Presidio of San Francisco for AIT training for the Military Police. In June 1967, he was sent to Germany to guard at a missile site for 13 months and was then discharged. In April 1980, (after 12 years) he decided to re-enlist in the Army Reserve and served from 1980-1995. He finished the last five years in the Oregon National Guard retiring in January 2000. His combined service time was 22 years.

He was an active member of his church, always lending a helping hand where needed. His generous spirit extended beyond his family, he opened his heart and home to a homeless friend, helping him find his footing once again.

He had a passion for genealogy, dedicating several years to uncovering his family’s history and connecting with loved ones.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed gathering with friends and catching local baseball games, creating cherished memories that will be remembered fondly.

A graveside service was held for Allen on October 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Prior to the service, a public viewing took place at Einan’s Chapel from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Allen’s warmth, dedication to family, and community spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
