BOMBER MEMORIAL

EUGENE RANDOLPH "GENE"/"GENO" NORBERG ~ Class of 1969
July 16, 1951 - January 11, 2025

Geno Norberg

Eugene "Geno" Randolph Norberg passed away January 11, 2025 peacefully in the arms of his wife and children.

He was born July 16, 1951 in Richland, Washington to Gunnar Edward and Delores (Bue) Norberg. Gene grew up fishing, fiddling with engines (especially motorcycles) and raising hell with his cousins Tim Reining ('71) and Mike Demers ('67) and a litany of other close friends and cohorts.

Geno graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1969 and traveled the states with close friend Bobby Mooney for a few years before returning home. In 1972 he married Laura Dawson ('73), and in July of 1973 his first daughter, Heather was born. In 1981 he would marry his True Love, the woman he would choose to lovingly argue with and annoy for the rest of his life, Cindy Bear. Together they had two children, Lacy in 1983 and Jared in 1986. He worked as a millwright, eventually landing a job at The Area, from where he retired.

He was a great friend to many. Even if you didn't know him you had probably heard of him, or some of the shenanigans he got himself into. He LOVED better than anyone; being a friend, husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa were the greatest joys in his life. He loved the sublime beauty of the wilderness and God's creation - which strengthened his faith.

Preceded in death by his father in 2000, his mother in 2022, twin brothers who only lived one day, and another brother who also only lived for one day but was born exactly one year before he was, best friend Michael Nisick ('69) and cousins Tim Reining ('71) and Michael Demers ('67).

He is survived by his sister Mary (Paul) Whitemarsh ('67), wife Cindy Norberg, daughters Heather Norberg and Lacy (Chad) Simmonds (`01), son Jared (Tawni Kay) Norberg, grandchildren: Kayla, August, Jayd'n, Ethan, Julian, Lillian and Liam, and great grandchildren: Hunter, Ilana, and Rylie.

Geno was laid to rest at Mueller's Desert Lawn Memorial Park during a quiet graveside service.

Our family would love for everyone to come and share their memories, drinks, food and sordid stories at a Celebration of Life to be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Foyer 950 (950 Aaron Dr., Richland, WA 99352).
